Franklin banker recognized by Heritage Foundation

The Heritage Foundation of Franklin and Williamson County last week recognized a local banker with its 2017 Patron’s Award.

Jody Bowman received the award Thursday at a reception for Heritage Ball sponsors and table hosts. The award, the organization’s top honor, recognizes a person or institution for exceptional leadership and for making significant contributions to area historic preservation.

“We are pleased to recognize Jody for his unwavering commitment to this community,” said Heritage Foundation Board President David Garrett. “As a dear friend and admirable leader, there could not be a better person to receive the Patron’s Award. His work as finance chairman during the planning and construction of the Franklin Theatre was pivotal to the success of the project.”

Bowman is the second member of his family to receive the Patron’s Award. His mother, Virginia Bowman, received the award in 1977.

Bowman recently retired as executive vice president and chief lending officer at Franklin Synergy Bank.

He has served as president of the Lions Club and on the board of the Battle of Franklin Trust.
