UPDATE: As promised earlier Thursday by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the Hamilton mastermind unveiled a new track to celebrate the anniversary of the Hamilton Mixtape release (with more to come!). Oregon-based indie rock band The Decemberists recorded “Ben Franklin’s Song,” the expletive-laden chorus of which asks, “And do you know who the f— I am? / Yeah, do you know who the f— I am? / Do you know who the f— I am? / I am Poor-Richard’s-Almanack-writing Benjamin F—in’ Franklin.”

EARLIER: New Hamilton music is on its way.
It’s been a whole year since Lin-Manuel Miranda and friends dropped TheHamilton Mixtape, and fans have been yearning for more music from Broadway’s freshest production ever since. In order to celebrate the anniversary of that release, Miranda announced that starting Friday, new Hamilton content will be dropping every month until December 2018.
The first #HAMILDROP, as Miranda called it, is “Ben Franklin’s Song,” penned by Miranda himself and featuring music by the Decemberists, which debuts Friday at midnight. The performer said that he wrote the “Decemberists-esque lyrics” a while back “but never set ’em to music.”
Miranda also announced that there will be both a clean and an explicit version of “Ben Franklin’s Song.”During the “twitter storm,” the singer also touched on the much-anticipated release of The Hamilton Mixtape Vol. 2, saying that “nothing’s gonna match those songs in that order, beautifully sequenced by @jperiodBK (music producer J. Period), at that moment in December 2016.”
“Ben Franklin’s Song” drops Friday at midnight.
