The Bears have been the talk of two Big Ten head coaches in the month of May, and on Wednesday they had a visit from another.
Keeping with the Big Ten theme, according to Zach Zaidman, the Bears hosted Penn State coach James Franklin Wednesday, who was watching the Bears’ minicamp walkthrough.
The reason for Franklin’s presence could be to watch one of his former players go through minicamp. He coached safety Adrian Amos for one season in 2014.
However, it’s also likely Franklin is in town, or passing through, on a recruiting trip and popped into Halas Hall on a whim.
Either way, Franklin is the third Big Ten coach to mention the Bears in recent months.
Ohio State’s Urban Meyer reassured Bears fans in late May they had a winner in quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, while Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh predicted the Bears will have a “heck of a defense” in 2017.
